First Indoor Grow

The initial cut off the plant was straight across with scissors and then immediately into water. I had pre-chosen four cutting sites and was done in under 30 sec. From there I went directly to my bench where peat pots were waiting with holes pre-dug.
One at a time, each clone got an angled cut (around 60 degrees). Then was immediately dipped into a root stimulant (a gel in this case) and finally placed into a peat pot and hole refilled.
Final placement under 18 hr lights.

I did start with bottled distilled. After about four or five feedings we really felt they could handle house water like the other hydro plants we have. They are now switched to house water. We have a sand-point well grandfathered in the house. It's slightly acidic and not really hard but has scale.
Thanks! Thats probably where I'm going wrong. I cut at the angle because that's what I read to do. I also use simple purified water that I have on the faucet so I'll try the distilled like you did next time.

When I talk about "starting with distilled water" I meant in the larger hydroponic system, not the cloning. The clones have always been in tap water.

As far as clones failing, my (limited) understanding is the biggest mistake is leaving the cut exposed to air for any amount of time. It should be cut from plant and placed directly into water until ready to re-cut at an angle for rooting stimulant and re-plant (or water rooting for hydro).

If you look at a cannabis plant in full bloom you'll see very small crystal looking objects covering the smaller leaves near the buds. They'll be quite sticky if you touche them. These are the small clear stems magnified 60x. They are known as trichomes (trick-home). Trichs are what carry the THC we covet.

As the plant matures the small clear stalks appear on the bud leaves. Then those small stalks grow a small bulbous head. At this time the THC levels are growing and 'maturing'. If you harvest while those small heads are fully clear (middle left) then the 'high' is kind of a short heady high.

We want to wait for the heads to start to go cloudy (middle right). As the percentage of heads cloud, the THC becomes a longer heady high (clean the house, go dancing!) until at a higher percentage it becomes a more head/body stone (mmmmunchies). If you wait for all of them to go cloudy you get that sleepy, couch-lock high (warm, cozy sleepy body feelings).

From cloudy the trichs move to an amber colour (upper right hand) which I am led to believe means that the plant is now changing over to CBD production vice THC production.

Also the brown looking stalks (mid right just shy of the middle and upper right) are pistols if I'm not mistaken (keenly awaiting any male pollen floating by).

Those being brown are another sign harvest is near.
