Feds raid Mar a Lago - All things Trump

That one's going to be interesting because:

A guilty plea deal for Meadows that could offer him immunity sounds, on paper, feasible. However, the Palmer Report's claim that an immunity deal has been cut is based on a report from an unnamed source that Meadows' attorney, George Terwilliger, has denied.

Terwilliger responded to a report by The Independent on Wednesday which included allegations from an unnamed source that Meadows would enter "pleas of guilty to unspecified federal crimes" as part of a limited immunity deal.

However, responding in the same article, Terwilliger told The Independent that the allegation was untrue. His comments did not address the possibility that Meadows, a former North Carolina congressman, was granted immunity.

But that same attorney, right after that quote, was asked if that deal had been discussed.

He refused to answer and left.

That tells me it's a done deal, they just haven't literally signed the papers yet.

But that's actually common practice - to not sign the deal until after the indictments are served. Sometimes, they're not signed until after the actual trials so that on the stand, if asked, they can say they haven't signed a deal.

Still, the reference to continuing investigations was the first overt suggestion — however vague — that other criminal cases could emerge from the work that the special counsel Jack Smith has done in bringing the Espionage Act and obstruction indictment against Mr. Trump in Miami last week.
Mr. Smith is also overseeing the parallel investigation into Mr. Trump’s efforts to reverse his election loss in 2020 and the ensuing assault on the Capitol by a mob of his supporters on Jan. 6, 2021.

Some witnesses close to Mr. Trump have been questioned by Mr. Smith’s team in connection with the both the documents and election interference inquiries.

And here's the reason I asked the question about lawyers:

Trusty wrote in a motion that he was dropping Trump as a client in his defamation suit against CNN because of “irreconcilable differences” that made it impossible for him to “effectively and properly represent” him.

“The defamation lawsuit against CNN is entering a new phase, as more irrefutable facts are revealed,” a spokesperson for Trump told Politico. “We thank Mr. Trusty for his work on this case and wish him all the best.”

I believe this is part of an overall tactic to try and delay the proceedings and then claim he's not been properly represented during the whole (and he'll call it this in the future filing) 'ordeal'.

If that's the case, it makes sense how this is going. The documents case was pretty much a slam dunk from the outset, so he brings that one as quickly as possible while continuing work on Jan 6th which is considerably more complex.

I don't.

Trusty wanted to be the lead dog and he's getting overruled too much, that's why he's out. Had he been lead counsel, which he isn't, I could see that.

Hard to delay over one also ran lawyer when you have a team of about 40 at this point.

They're desperately trying to avoid appeals with these rulings.

It's not going to matter. He'll still appeal everything he can ad nauseum regardless of how bulletproof the judges make procedure.

Ahahahahahahahahahaha

We all knew it would happen sooner or later.
