"Why would you go into that kind of battle completely unarmed? Our vaccines will protect you, particularly if you are triple vaxed. People who are unvaxed should start the process now. Go ahead and go to your pharmacy and get vaccinated. I do not think that we need to just throw our hands up in the air and say, 'Look, we're all going to get it so let's just let it burn through the country.' If we do that, our hospitals will be swamped. We need to protect our health care system, and that's why every American needs to mask up and vax up right now because our health care infrastructure is at stake right now." - Dr. Johnathan Reiner, George Washington University Hospital

Saw that this morning. We did our last cruise before the pandemic and Hong Kong was still free (as much as it was after the handover). It would be nice to do one again but we both agree it will be quite a while.

You couldn't drag me kicking and screaming onto a cruise ship. At least not that launches from the Southeast or Caribbean. The death rate is simply astronomical, even before covid came along. The number one cause: food poisoning.

My barber though has talked about the river cruises of Europe on long boats. He said they're everything a cruise is not. (In a very good way.)

Bob (the barber, and yes he's heard all the "Bob Barber/Barker" jokes you can think of) said that they're wonderful. According to him, they're not as crowded, there are very few if any kids at all, the rooms are much nicer and where you actually go is much better.

He was telling me about one he took up the Rhine river and it sounded fantastic. I think it went from Munich to Amsterdam. If I ever get on a boat, it's probably going to be that one.
