The Arrest / No Fly List / Comeuppance Thread

Zach Alam, who remains in jail, spoke over his attorney and demanded to represent himself, at one point directly asking a federal prosecutor assigned to the case, "Can I get a deal?" according a live report from Scott MacFarlane, an investigative reporter for Washington, D.C.'s NBC affiliate.

Alam said he was making an "offer" — for prosecutors to drop all charges — before demanding, "Make me a counteroffer."

Andrew Quentin Taake was arrested Friday by the FBI, which has accused him of pepper-spraying officers and striking them with a metal "whip-like device" at the January 6 Capitol riot.

And apparently it was Taake's online dating foray that helped get him in trouble.

Taake, 32, of Houston, was tipped off to the FBI by someone who said they hadn't met him -- but was texting with him about the riot -- on Bumble.

"Witness 1 messaged Taake on a dating app, Bumble, while he was in Washington, D.C.," prosecutors allege. "Although Taake and Witness 1 never met in person, Taake discussed his participation in the riot with Witness 1 and sent Witness 1 several pictures of himself, including a picture of himself taken on January 6, 2021, after he was allegedly pepper sprayed by law enforcement officers. Witness 1 said Taake admitted to being inside the U.S. Capitol for approximately 30 minutes."

An accused Capitol insurrectionist appeared in a shooting contest after a federal judge restricted his handling of firearms as part of his pre-trial release.

Matthew Loganbill, a firearms dealer from Missouri, also quickly divested from his gun shop, transferring ownership to a family member, after the judge suggested that the business is an asset that could be used by the government "to get its money back," the Kansas City Star reports.

During a court appearance on Friday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Tejpal Chawla told U.S. Magistrate Judge G. Michael Harvey that prosecutors recently learned Loganbill had competed in a shooting competition at his firing range on July 10. Chawla said competing in the contest appears "inconsistent" with the terms of his pre-trial release in April.

According to Schaffer's lawyer, while Schaffer was being held in an Indiana jail, he was pelted with feces and faced death threats.

"My client, who is presumed innocent, has just gone through two months of hell where other people were throwing feces at him and urine at him and threatening his life in a horrible, horrible situation," said attorney Marc Victor at a hearing.

Someone needs to tell his lawyer all prisoners feel innocent.

These people are all the same. Spoiled brat assholes that think the rules of the world do not apply to them at all.
