That's the single largest failure of our founding fathers: they wrote the laws of our system of government based on themselves and the norms of the day. The idea that someone like Donald Trump and Clarence Thomas would come along someday never once occurred to them.

To their credit, it took 200 years to finally happen, but still, they should have known it would happen eventually.
