Frank "Father Guido" Gaudious - February 24th, 1969 to October 16th, 2021

This is a real dick punch.

Frank's younger brother Dominic died. I just found out last night. Apparently, he was in a motorcycle accident back on March 11th and was in ICU until he passed away April 2nd.

He was 52, same age as Frank. Their father lived into his 80's, neither one of them made it to their mid 50's.

Dom was a good kid and a fantastic guitar player. I remember when he first started playing he was in to heavy metal; WASP, Slayer and groups like that were his "go to" bands.

I introduced him to Peter Frampton's 'Frampton Comes Alive' and Led Zeppelin.

He went on to develop his own style, mostly acoustic, that incorporated all sorts of strange instruments and it was fantastic. I haven't seen him in years, but I'll always remember the impish little grin he had, like he was always up to something - because he usually was.

I don't know.

He moved to Florida quite some time ago when he got a deal with Disney to play there regularly. I remember him playing coffee shops and such around the Atlanta area for years before he got the Disney deal.

I spoke to him a few times since then, but the last time I remember talking to him was at least 8 or 9 years ago.

Went riding today. Yesterday was a final going over then wash, wax and detail day. Here it is right before I left this morning.

So while I was up in the North Georgia Mountains, taking it easy, I was thinking about the guys I used to ride with that are gone now, Frank most of all. But David Stomackin, John Varnadoe and others as well.

As I was thinking about them, riding along, I came around a bend and there was this little hole-in-the-wall type of joint. Out front was one of those small, marquis signs and on it was this statement:

Tammy, you were loved. You'll be missed.

I guess everybody is missing somebody no matter who you are and where you go. Although it may sound depressing, it made me smile. There is still hope, I think, for this planet after all.
