COVID Thread

So I went to the ballgame last night in Lincoln to watch my Huskers once again manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Anyway, I was sort of impressed with how many people were wearing masks. I'd say about 60%. Maybe more. I was sort of expecting to be the only one there with one. I was honestly shocked. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Maybe we're not as fucked as we all think we are.

I watched the first quarter but then fell asleep. Couldn't believe he went for it on that first drive. Should have taken the points. ALWAYS take the points.

Good to know about the masks though. It's really hard to tell on the TV who is and who isn't.

Yep. But it's fucking Scott Frost. Mr. I can do everything all by myself. Gives away three points against a team that was favored by 21 points and what the hell did we lose by?

Those three fucking points.

Fucking idiot.

WTF is wrong with people?!

It's a hospital for God's sake! People are fighting for their very lives in there!

Go protest at city hall or the local park or a reasonable facsimile thereof. Stop being complete assholes!

They're doing that here too and the idiot anti-vaxxers are losing their minds.

It's very simple: unemployment insurance is for those who lose their job through no fault of their own.

You chose not to get vaccinated, so you chose to lose your job.

Screw you. Thank you for playing.

Next!

Just got back from saying goodbye to my dear friend Frank. Called my buddy Jolly in S.C. to let him know. Told him Frank wasn't vaccinated. Jolly starts on about how Fauci admitted there is no vaccine, that the money was used for other things. He goes on to say the only vaccine is from Johnson & Johnson but it will kill you because it causes blood clots and it's only good for 4 months anyway.

Told him I had to go. Told him I loved him and hung up.

This nation is doomed. Completely.

Anew and more transmissible COVID-19 variant has been detected by health officials in the United Kingdom and the United States, sparking concerns over whether it can evade immunity offered by currently available vaccines.

The new variant, called “Delta Plus,” is an offshoot of the B.1.167.2 Delta variant. The Delta sublineage strain was first identified in July and was found to include some new mutations that affect its spike protein, according to BBC.

The AY.4.2 variant has since been detected in the U.S., Denmark, Israel and the U.K. where it was found in 8% of all COVID-19 samples sequenced beginning Sept. 27, according to an Oct. 15 report from the UK Health Security Agency.

In the U.S., the AY variants are listed as variants of concern by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. However, it is unclear how many of the sequenced COVID-19 cases in the country are caused by the AY.4.2 variant as the agency does not list it separately from the other AY variants.
