If you ever saw the movie Papillon that was French Guiana. The French still have the region but not the prison (Devil's Island) and it's an EU region.

Not at all. You'd be surprised at the amount of people who suck at geography around the world, I'm going to bet you can at least name the 50 states. Talked to one poor server in Portugal who couldn't even tell me all 7(8) of their states.
