I had my L5 blow once. Couldn't control my foot from flopping on heel contact. Turned out to be a major symptom in spotting a blown disc.
Imagine if he couldn't brake because the foot gave way from nerve damage.

I actually have that. I take muscle relaxers 3 times a day to keep my hips and right foot from locking up.

It's also why I don't ride my Vmax anywhere near as aggressively as I used to.
