Alabama's Republican governor extends face mask mandate

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Breaking with other Southern GOP governors, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey extended her state’s mask order for another month Thursday but said the requirement will end for good in April.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has faced political pressure and angry constituents over her state’s mask order during the COVID-19 pandemic.

But the 76-year-old governor of the deeply red state has resisted calls to drop the requirement as Republican governors across the South either shunned mask mandates altogether or lifted them in late winter.

She did say though that should wasn't going to extend them any further, that this is essentially "it" for Alabama.

That's scary as hell though when you consider what the situation may become by then.
