Matt Gaetz Thread

Turns out the rumor was true! Matt tried to get a job at Newsmax right after the news broke that he was under investigation for sex trafficking. They turned him down.

How fucking sad is it that Newsmax has higher standards than the GOP?

Ahem! Chapter 2

Prosecutors granted immunity to an ex-girlfriend of Representative Matt Gaetz before she testified last week in front of a federal grand jury hearing evidence in the investigation of the congressman, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Gaetz has been under investigation to determine if he violated sex trafficking laws and obstructed justice in that probe. Gaetz has previously denied all wrongdoing, and has said he has never paid for sex nor had sex with an underage girl.

I would think you wouldn't offer immunity unless you were very convinced by her evidence.

I would think you wouldn't offer immunity unless you were very convinced by her evidence.
Not true.

This whole thing has gone beyond ridiculous. The ONLY person they have that has said anything about Gaetz is Joel Greenberg. To recap: he has plead guilty to 33 crimes including 6 felonies and is facing the better part of the rest of his life in prison.

So Joel has been pulling a Michael Cohen: stretching the prosecution along with all kinds of stories in order to stay out of prison for as long as he can.

Greenberg's big story was the whole "sex trafficing" fiasco where he said that there was a 17 year old girl on a plane with him and Gaetz that went to the Bahamas. That story turned into a shit show when CNN reported that the girl in question was cooperating with authorities and then the next day retracted the story because she was not.

After that, they tried to get that girl to rat out Gaetz but she didn't. In fact, she wasn't even sure who Gaetz was at all but know full well who Greenberg was.

Then you had Gaetz telling the authorities that someone was trying to blackmail him and his father over this whole affair as well as trying for some reason to hold a story about trying to get a pardon over his head. Nobody believed him (Gaetz) about that story.

Turns out, that story was in fact true and arrest were made and a man is pending trial for exactly that right now.

So then you have this "ex-girlfriend" stuff. She was in "an open relationship" with Gaetz and they both slept around a lot with other people and they both traveled together.

Originally, she had said she didn't know what they were talking about (on the sex trafficking thing) and then later refused to cooperate when they kept badgering her.

So then they decided to threaten her with obstruction of justice if she didn't cooperate and tell them everything that she knew.

So then she got a lawyer. The lawyer told them to go ahead and charge her with obstruction.

So they came back with, "Tell you what: we'll give her complete immunity from everything, we're talking BLANKET immunity, if she'll come in and testify."

So she did.

Nobody knows what it is she has to say if there's anything for her to say at all. What she would know about a trip she wasn't even part of is a mystery to me.

We'll all eventually see what happens, but to me this is just more prosecutorial misconduct in a probe they've had going since 2018 that has wound up going absolutely nowhere. Everything winds up right back on Greenberg and nowhere else to this point.

Again, not one single person has ever come forward to accuse Gaetz of anything except Greenberg and that was only after he was facing life in prison.

I hate to say I told you so, but:

The recommendation comes in part because prosecutors have questions over whether the central witnesses in the long-running investigation would be perceived as credible before a jury, the source said.

I've said it all along: When the only witness against Gaetz is a guy that already confessed to 33 crimes, including multiple felonies, there's no way on earth you can charge him.

Even though the one witness fell through, I still find it hard to believe his innocence when he sought a presidential pardon.

Gaetz sought a preemptive presidential pardon from Donald Trump, an aide to the former president told the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol. John McEntee, who served as director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, testified that he interpreted the request to be in the context of the DOJ probe.

Well, think about it: wouldn't you?

You've already had someone trying to blackmail you and nobody believed you for years until the guy was finally caught. Now you've had a known criminal try to sell you down the river to save his own ass. His only "proof" was that Gaetz sent him some money on an app. Just about everything else that Greenburg ever said was proven to be a lie.

And the other witness didn't "fall through". She said from the outset she didn't have any knowledge of Gaetz and a 17 year old. They harassed her to the point she hired a lawyer. They granted her full immunity as a trick so that she couldn't take the fifth based on the lies that Greenburg kept feeding them. Know what? She said the same thing: she didn't have any information at all of Gaetz ever being involved with it.

They took Gaetz phone going on three years ago. Greenburg has been telling stories in "cooperation" (read as trying to stay out of jail as long as he can) for two years now.

They have absolutely nothing at all.

If I thought I was getting railroaded, and this nation is FULL of people in jail that are innocent, then yeah. I'd ask for a pardon as well.

I don't like Gaetz one damn bit. I think he's a worthless piece of shit. But once again the Justice Department goes out of its way to cater to a known criminal in the hopes of getting someone that to date has done nothing other than get a DUI years earlier.

It's a bullshit policy. If you had somebody else, some other evidence, and then Greenburg was a confirmation of that evidence? Sure. Charge his ass.

But to this day, they've taken phones, financials, interviewed dozens upon dozens of people and not one single thing other than Greenburg said it ever happened.

It was Greenberg I was referring to. And in the end even after getting the pardon wouldn't there still be ramifications since acceptance of a pardon means acceptance of guilt?

So at long last, Greenberg gets his:

11 years.

That's a long time. That tells me that his "cooperation" turned out to be pure bullshit, so they stuck it to him.

Which is what I had figured all along.

Well it was either that or it depended on Gaetz getting convicted.
Again, how are you going to convict somebody with zero evidence? They didn't even bother indicting Gaetz at all. In fact, they ran out of probable cause to issue any sort of warrants because NOTHING that Greenberg had told them ever turned out to be true.

It was all bullshit. Greenberg made it all up to save his own ass and stay out of jail for as long as he could.

To this very day, Greenberg is the only witness they ever had - and it was all a lie.
