FAA safety engineer goes public to slam the agency’s oversight of Boeing’s 737 MAX

It shouldn't be legal. If you halfass something you shouldn't get off the hook for it.

While I agree with your sentiment regarding this particular write-off (especially if installed knowingly), customer satisfaction has been recognized as a business expense since the beginning of trade.

I see your point Zeedox but Grim has a point. They did that shit knowingly to save money. Now they get to write it all off to save money. Insurance companies can't do that. If I write you a life insurance policy for 100 large and you crap out, I owe you 100 large. I don't get to sit there and say "well, we thought he wasn't going to die on us so we'll just write that 100 large off and not pay any taxes on it or what the guy paid us for the policy to begin with".

Only car manufacturers get away with that shit. Nobody else does.

Just when you thought Boeing couldn't do any worse:

Salehpour’s attorneys said the FAA was surprised to discover through his complaint that the gaps were still an issue.

“I literally saw people jumping on the pieces of the airplane to get them to align,” Salehpour said. “By jumping up and down, you’re deforming parts so that the holes align temporarily … and that’s not how you build an airplane.”
