Former president Donald Trump's alleged efforts to get Justice Department officials to overturn the results of the 2020 election constitution an "extraordinary circumstance" and are not protected by executive privilege, the DOJ wrote in a letter this week.

In the letter obtained by the New York Times, the DOJ advised officials who served in the Trump administration that they can give "unrestricted testimony" to committees investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection, including the House panel that will meet for the first time Tuesday.

Watching it now. They have 4 capital police officers there today.

I honestly don't think they will call any Trump officials to testify.

Even if they do, they won't show up. They'll stonewall just like they did during both his impeachment hearings.

"...but then again, maybe that's who we are. This country exists because we beat somebody in a war. Other countries are the same. The nation boundaries, state boundaries, they all exist because somebody beat somebody else in a fight. That's not the America I love. It's not the America I fought, or any of the four of us fought for that day, but in the end maybe it is all we really are." - Officer Dunn

Man, that hurt.

True. But it hurt.

"we didn't dare shoot. There were over 9,000 people there that day. What if that was the signal? What if we fire and that's their signal to open fire and set off all the explosives they had brought? That's why we didn't fire. If it had come to that we would have lost huge." - Officer Hodges

I disagree about the "This country exists because we beat somebody in a war." But that's a discussion for another forum, on another day, as I do not want to seem to be belittling these officers statements.

I don't think he meant the revolution as much as he meant all of our wars collectively, especially WWII. Had Japan pushed the west coast instead of hit and run, we may well not be having this conversation in English.

Not this time man. Before when Trump used executive privelidge he had Barr in the DOJ helping him by not prosecuting anybody that refused to show up. Garland has already said that executive privelidge doesn't apply to any of this shit so they're on their own. They don't obey the subpoena then Garland can have them locked up. They didn't have that going against them during the impeachement trials.
