I disagree with this in the strongest possible way.

Of note is this: Trump has been charged with nothing. At all.

What they are doing at this point is literally publishing the private tax records of an individual for absolutely no reason at all.

If you don't think that's wrong, consider this: why aren't they making all of theirs pubic? You got it - because they're doing very similar things that Trump is doing and they don't want that to be made public.

If Trump had been charged with a crime, and you were sharing those records to show as a matter of public record to be used as evidence at trial, then I'd be OK with it. But that's not what this is. This is literally just a "lets get them and make them public just to piss him off and embarrass him" move.

It's a ridiculous abuse of power, in my humble opinion.

If you fail to ensure he deliveres what he was supposed to deliver (in the first two years) as per the law, then future presidents will feel embolden to do exactly the same thing.

And the scary part is the next one 'emboldened' will be a whole lot smarter then donald j. trump ever was or could hope to be.

Fun fact: there is no law requiring that. It was actually a political stunt by Jimmy Carter that turned into a tradition. No president before him ever did it.

Now that's interesting because this article calls the audit "mandatory"

The "audit" is. That is done privately like everybody else's taxes are by the IRS. That is on the IRS for not doing it. I'm sure they were ordered not to by Charles Rettig, who Trump put in charge at the IRS in 2018. It is done to insure that the president is complying with divorcing himself from his business interests properly.

But as far as making tax records public, that was a voluntary thing started by Jimmy Carter. It was purely voluntary. No president before him ever did it in U.S. history. It is not required at all.

They have blatantly made it to where now anybody can have their taxes aired in public for absolutely no reason whatsoever. That is a very, very dangerous precedent to set.

In March 2021, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation as part of the For the People Act of 2021 that would require Presidents, Vice Presidents, and nominees to publicly disclose several years of their tax returns through the Federal Election Commission.

That, of course, doesn't apply to Trump. Also, it never became law. It was shot down in the Senate.

Well apparently you do need a law to have this disclosure and it looks like several parties are looking to make it a law.
It will never happen. Because they are all corrupt as hell.

They do that on purpose: pass a law in one area of congress to make it look like they're doing something and then shoot it down in the other to keep the status quo.
