He truly was. I loved his commentary because it was factual and knowledgeable. He was truly a professor of the game. He got his start working in Pittsburg. He was a big Steelers fan as a kid and it started from there.
Any time he spoke, you could take what he said to the bank. A truly encyclopedic knowledge of the game and a dry wit that was always a pure pleasure to experience.
