Ukraine / Russia Thread

Miller confirmed that the US had not received any prior information about possible operations in the Russian territory, adding that "it’s not unusual for the Ukrainians not to notify us of their exact tactics before they execute them".

"It’s the war that they [the Ukrainians – ed.] are conducting. We are providing them with the equipment; we provide them with advice. But when it comes to the day-by-day tactic that they carry out, the day-by-day strikes that they take, sometimes we’re in communication about it, sometimes we’re not. It’s appropriate for them to make those decisions," Miller stated.

The sanctions have contributed to a ball-bearing shortage in Russia, which has affected locomotive maintenance in the country. This has led to a rise in malfunctions on the network's trains and an increase in the number of vehicles being suspended, Russian newspapers Vedomosti and Kommersant reported in February and March this year.

"Historically, Russia has imported most of its high-quality bearings from Western manufacturers," CSIS analysts said. "In 2020, for instance, Russia imported over $419 million worth of ball bearings, around 55 percent of which originated in Europe and North America; Germany was Russia's largest trading partner, taking up 17 percent of its total imports that year.

"Following the start of the invasion, major Western producers of bearings exited Russia and ended their sales there," the analysts said.

Western sanctions have created shortages of higher-end foreign components and are forcing Moscow to substitute them with lower-quality alternatives.

A Russian citizen in Kursk region can’t believe her house is gone and that she has to evacuate with her family.

Almost anything Putin fails at, I laugh at. However, I'm old enough to remember the days of propaganda that the Russian people were exposed to during communism. I still wonder how much truth the average Russian really knows these days and how much of the propaganda machine still churns.
I feel sorry for the truely unknowing humans that have been caught up in this shit.

Yeah, but that's not going to hold water for long. Ukraine I think has gone too far. They need to back up or they're going to get cut off, surrounded and obliterated.

Russia's counter offensive will hit by the end of the week. You heard it here first.

However, I believe the point has been made that Russia now has to start guarding a much larger front, much more deeper.

Of course this will strain the remaining Russian troops hopefully to the point of breaking.
