Trump Administration Shit Show

...open commitment to the destruction of habeas corpus— the creation of a new rule that says anyone the administration orders ICE to seize can be shoved onto a flight to a torture prison in another country and there's nothing any US court can do about it— destroys constitutionalism.

The new revelations about DOGE's activities at the labor agency come from a whistleblower in the IT department of the NLRB, who disclosed his concerns to Congress and the U.S. Office of Special Counsel in a detailed report that was then provided to NPR. Meanwhile, his attempts to raise concerns internally within the NLRB preceded someone "physically taping a threatening note" to his door that included sensitive personal information and overhead photos of him walking his dog that appeared to be taken with a drone, according to a cover letter attached to his disclosure filed by his attorney, Andrew Bakaj of the nonprofit Whistleblower Aid.

The first of your posts is already happening. Several factories have already laid off thousands of people because they're assembly plants, not true manufacturing plants.

The second post is typical of a modern day McCarthy Red Scare establishment.

It's fucking sickening.

Based on her inspection of his birth certificate and Social Security card, Riggans said she found no probable cause for the charge. However, the state prosecutor insisted the court lacked jurisdiction over Lopez-Gomez's release because U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had formally asked the jail to hold him.

"This court does not have any jurisdiction other than what I've already done," Riggans said.

And if history has taught us anything, it’s that the ideology of fascism is all-encompassing. Yes, they’re coming for the medical journals now, as ridiculous as that sounds. And every Trump supporter who thinks they’ll escape fascism’s wrath is sorely mistaken. In this kind of system, everyone is eventually made to prove their fealty to the leader. Anyone who makes a mistake or steps out of line, no matter how much they think they’ve proved themselves, will still feel the consequences.

"It is yet another example of the Trump administration's effort to control academic inquiry and stifle scientific discourse -- an administration, it warrants mentioning, that has embraced medical misinformation and pseudoscience to reckless effect," Gaffney said in an email to MedPage Today. "Journal editors should join together and publicly renounce this as yet more thinly guised anti-science political blackmail."

JT Morris, a senior supervising attorney at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, noted that in a First Amendment case such as this, the law is clear: "A publication's editorial decisions are none of the government's business, whether it's a newspaper or a medical journal."

"When a United States Attorney wields the power of his office to target medical journals because of their content and editorial processes, he isn't doing his job, let alone upholding his constitutional oath," Morris said in an email to MedPage Today. "He's abusing his authority to try to chill protected speech."
