The Tiled Shower Stall Thread

The floor is in.

Man, those little hexagons are a royal pain in the ass to cut. The sheet backing dissolves almost instantly when it gets wet, so I wound up having to cut them one at a time for the most part.

Now I'll spend most of tomorrow scraping out the thinset that got into the grooves so I can grout it.

Entry installed. First 2 rows of rear wall laid. I'll let this harden up overnight and then get on the rear wall tomorrow.

As heavy as this stuff is, I didn't want it literally sliding down the wall by laying too much at one time.

I made it most of the way up the back wall today. I ran out of thinset right at the insert area and was just too tired to keep going.

Besides, my wetsaw was getting clogged so I gave it a good cleaning and called it a day.

I wish I had a better camera because the picture does the marble no justice at all. Even dirty and ungrouted it's simply stunning to look at.

Best laid plans of mice...

Was going for broke to get the whole wall done and the tile cutter blade went. Had to scrape the thinset off the top section.

Going to buy 2 more blades just in case it happens again in the home stretch.

But here it is so far.

Edit to add: I was out at the end of the back yard hosing and cleaning up the tools and bucket when I heard Han Solo's voice in my head, "Listen, sister: I'm not in it for your showering needs; and I'm not in it for you. I expect to be well paid. I'm in it for the money."
