...when we learned that the FBI had received 4,500—4,500!—tips about Kavanaugh, which were referred to the White House, i.e. the organization trying to get the guy confirmed to the Court. And now, the FBI has confirmed that, yeah, it didn’t really feel the need to look into any of those tips, and when it did follow up on some, the White House was making sure it didn’t dig too far...

That is very, very old news.

Fun fact: they submitted that report to the white house. Trump didn't want them to act on it.

The only person that can order an FBI background check on a nominee is the president.

We've know all of that since before Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing.

Here you go:

Also on September 29, NBC News reported that the White House had set several strict parameters for the investigation; these included heavy restrictions on investigating Mark Judge (including blocking any access to Judge's employment records) and limiting the investigation to looking into only Ford's and Ramirez's allegations; looking into Swetnick's was blocked.[168] This report led to widespread controversy; Avenatti responded by calling the report "outrageous" and vowing to "take the facts to the American people" if Swetnick was not included in the investigation.[169]
In response, the president denied the report, stating "I want them to interview whoever they deem appropriate, at their discretion". The White House followed up on this by stating that it was not restricting the investigation but that the investigation should not become a "fishing expedition".[170] However, on September 30, it was confirmed by The New York Times that the restrictions were still in effect due to the parameters set by White House counsel Don McGahn. The article also stated that the investigation had been restricted to only 4 individuals that could be interviewed: Judge, Ramirez, Leland Keyser (a friend of Ford's who allegedly also attended the party) and P. J. Smyth (another party attendee). Access was denied to Swetnick and to any of Kavanaugh's classmates who stated that he drank heavily.[171] In response to the reports, on September 30, Feinstein called for the White House and FBI to release the scope of the investigation.[172]
On October 1, The New York Times reported that the White House had authorized the FBI to expand its investigation and interview "anybody they want within reason". McGahn apparently followed up on this by calling the FBI and stating that the investigation could be expanded. On interviewing Swetnick, Trump stated "It wouldn’t bother me at all. Now I don’t know all three of the accusers. Certainly I imagine they’re going to interview two. The third one I don’t know much about."[165] Despite this, later reports continued stating that the FBI had not contacted many people due to the White House restrictions, including Ford and Kavanaugh themselves.[173]
It was all reported on in real time before Kavanaugh was ever confirmed. Why they're rehashing all of this now I can only guess at. I think it may have something to do with the them trying to impeach the justices that Trump appointed and this is phase one. That is a total guess though. Otherwise, there's no reason at all for rehashing the same shit we all already knew.

The biggest revelation involves Max Stier, the former Yale classmate who, during the week of Kavanaugh’s investigation, informed senators and the FBI that he “saw Mr. Kavanaugh with his pants down at a different drunken dorm party, where friends pushed his penis into the hand of a female student.” (The FBI never followed up.) Justice airs a new recording of Stier telling the story, saying, “This is something that I reported to my wife years ago.”
