The Climate Change Thread

So not only is lake Mead (Hoover Dam) in danger of not producing power within the next couple of years, lake Powell is now in danger as well. That's about 80,000,000 people potentially without power in the next two to three years.

And it's not going to be just the loss of power. The loss of water itself is going to be just as bad if not worse. You can forget big agriculture. That shit will be gone. They'll be lucky to have enough water to keep half of the toilets flushing.

Debated on where to put this, on his own thread with the others or here, but decided on here:

So that's it then. That's the United States' response to climate change: jack up the insurance rates to cover the costs of the catastrophic damage being done.

You price it high enough, everybody will move out. Then you'll not have to pay for any damages. Rinse, repeat.

Ah but then you dont garner those nice sloppy taxes either!
Sure they do. What they've already done is buy up all the property that they're going to have to move to. Then they're going to sell it to them at an insane profit when the land they were living on becomes unliveable. Then they'll tax the shit out of them at a higher rate. Who do you think owns most of the land in this country?

I'll give you a hint. It's not the fucking realtors.
