Shortly after the shooting, the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office released an official statement describing the tragic incident. According to the statement, the law enforcement agency stated the “shooter remained cooperative,” and local authorities decided against arresting the shooter for the attack, although a search warrant was executed at the individual’s residence.

How much you wanna bet he has a cop relative somewhere?

Well, it just happened Friday. It's still possible that he can be arrested for murder. We'll have to give it a week or two and see if their investigation leads to an arrest or not.

The "Stand Your Ground" doctrine has rules but it is the most abused defense out there. It's supposed to be based on defense, not offense.

Example: you are beating on my door. I tell you to go away but you try to force your way into my house. I shoot you dead. I'm within my rights under the SYG doctrine.

But that's not supposed to mean I can see you sitting in a car, go out and start some sort of scene with you and then shoot you when you raise an objection.

On it's face, that seems like what happened here - the resident went looking for trouble.

That stand your ground bullshit is what let that Zimmerman asshole go from killing that black kid in Florida. Zimmerman gets out of his car and chases this kid down and attacks him and then shoots him dead but he was standing his ground. That entire law is complete bullshit.

Well, yes and no.

What got him off the hook was an overzealous prosecution. Zimmerman was originally charged with manslaughter, which was what he should have been charged with.

But the NAACP and other groups called foul and wouldn't stop until they charged him with murder. It was a charge they simply had no evidence to prove, so Zimmerman walked.
