Spain could become one of the first countries in the world to trial the four-day working week after the government agreed to launch a modest pilot project for companies interested in the idea.

Earlier this year, the small leftwing Spanish party Más País announced that the government had accepted its proposal to test out the idea. Talks have since been held, with the next meeting expected to take place in the coming weeks.

Interesting.

I watched a program (can't remember which one) a year or two ago and it was about the Italian work day. It was amazing. They go in around 9, work 'till around noon, get lunch - and get this, most go home, cook a meal, sit around the table and eat, clean up, then go back to work around 1:30.

Then they work until 5:30 or so.

They get 4 weeks paid leave per year that they're not afraid to use for fear of being fired. They get paid maternity leave as well, so mothers don't have to rush back to work and can be with their new child.

Most business offer in house child care as well, complete with professional care givers.

Say what you want about Italy's economy or debt or whatever, but that's a good life. As it should be. So what does it say that nations like Italy, Germany, France, etc. can do things like that and the United States, allegedly the richest, most powerful nation on earth, can't even come close to any of it?

Our three big pushes up here: National Pharmacare (prescription medication), National Dental (some provinces cover kids to 12 but that's it) and Universal Basic Income (pushed a lot because of the monthly COVID relief).

Once a few years back I worked a job that was three days on at 12 hours then 4 days off but you got paid for 40. It was rough but it wasn't that bad really since you got 4 days off in a row.
