Although the two measures differ slightly due to committee amendments, both would legalize the possession of up to two ounces of marijuana and the personal cultivation of up to eight marijuana plants for those who are at least 21 years old. Marijuana and marijuana products would be sold through licensed marijuana retail outlets, with regulations and licensing overseen by a newly created Office of Cannabis Management.

Unlike most other marijuana legalization laws, HF 100 would not allow localities to place a blanket ban on marijuana stores, with licensing handled entirely by the state. An amendment to allow cities to ban marijuana stores was rejected on the House floor by a vote of 59 to 69.

The bill, which passed 34-33, is very similar to the one the House passed earlier this week, but with some slight differences.

The Senate's version includes a 10% tax on cannabis products -- 2% higher than what was passed in the House. This bill also allows people to have up to 5 pounds of cannabis in their home, whereas the House limits it to 1.5 pounds.

Now that Senate has passed its version, members from both the House and Senate will have to get together to work out their differences before a final version heads to the governor's desk. Gov. Tim Walz says he intends to sign the bill once it gets there.

If signed into law, Minnesota would become the 23rd state to legalize weed.

I believe there's only three provinces/territories up here with a total-amount-allowed-at-home. Here in NS there's is no limit listed.

edit:
Yeah. British Columbia 1000g (that's a kilogram and equals 2.2lbs) .. Quebec and Nunavut 150 grams .. Everyone else no limit
