It's a sad day for the old Toro.

When we first bought this house in 2003, my wife gave me a $500.00 budget to buy the lawn equipment. I spent about $280.00 on this old, self-propelled Toro lawn mower:

The pull from the front wheel drive had been getting weaker the last couple of years, but it finally gave up entirely. A new transmission, shaft and bearings to fix it would be over $200.00, so that's out.

The new Toro will be here tomorrow to replace it.

I've never done a thing to that mower other than put gas in it and change the air filter and spark plug. Definitely got my money's worth out of it.

Yep. The engine is still solid. It also needs a new blade though.

Problem is, it's so hard to push that you'd still have to replace the transmission and front axel to use it as a push mower.

The motor lad, the motor. It'd make a very nice go-kart, bush-whacker, water pump engine, etc.
True. But I'd never build any of them as I basically have no use for them. I'm going to see if the guy that delivers the new one wants it. Typically they can fix them much cheaper than I can and sell them used to folks that can't afford a new one.
