Free online wargame World of Warships has been on thin ice with its community for a while now, but recent events—including the botched return of a fan-favourite ship—have seen many of the community’s biggest names quit the game’s official community program.

As MassivelyOP report, developers Wargaming have in recent years slowly been changing the way the game’s marketplace works, pushing more and more content behind loot boxes and random item unlocks that obfuscate a piece of content’s actual cost in real dollars. This has frustrated a playerbase that had grown accustomed to being able to either buy or grind their way into clear, desired purchases.

I totally agree with the loot box hate. I thought that legally that was going to be brought to an end years ago but Wargaming have simply gone all in on them.

But as for the Missouri, that's a bunch of bunk.

The Missouri was originally put into the game back when I was playing it in 2016 - 2017. You couldn't buy it. You had to use Free XP to unlock it and then it was yours and that was it.

What they're doing is putting that ship in the store to sell it only with what turns out to be about a 10 to 15% credit earnings nerf.

Big whoop. So you didn't grind the free XP or bite the bullet and pay about 100 dollars to convert free XP to purchase it. You're just outright buying it for about half the price with no effort at all and you expected the same ship?

Seriously?

What about all the folks that ground their ass off for that ship years ago?

The whole Wargaming CC program consists of a bunch of people that have been spoiled rotten over the years. They've been given everything for free, gotten a completely free ride, been able to do whatever they wanted and NOW they're upset because they don't run the game?

Please.

In the end they're no better than anybody else playing the game that actually pays for it. What's more, a lot of their "advice" is crap that simply doesn't work in real time.

I have to admit, I'm siding with Wargaming on this one. Let them quit. They'll all come quietly creeping back when they realize the game will roll on without them...just like they told all those players that complained about the game on the forums, remember?

"Then leave! The game won't miss you when you're gone!"

Time for them to follow their own advice.

I thought the EU outlawed the loot boxes a few years ago. I know there was a lot of shit going on about them.
