Hollywood Hit With Writers Strike After Talks With AMPTP Fail; Guild Slams Studios For “Gig Economy” Mentality

The Writers Guild of America is on strike, effective immediately, after the guild’s negotiations with Hollywood studios failed to reach a new contract deal.

News of the strike, which takes effect in a few hours, came late Monday after the guild’s negotiations with the AMPTP failed to reach an agreement on a new film and scripted TV contract. It’s the WGA’s first strike since the 100-day walkout of 2007-08.

The first time Hollywood writers went on strike they invented 'Survivor' as a fast-replacement and ushered in the horrors of "Reality TV".

And they'll do more of the same. Most of TV now is reality bullshit, which is why I don't watch it. What's more, most shows are streaming and the season is already over for the vast majority of them.

Once again, it's some really moronic leadership by the union officials. You don't strike when the season is at it's end, you strike when it's at the beginning.
