They're rushing this one through.

In the end I guess it's the right thing to do. Calling witnesses and such isn't going to help convert a bunch of morally bankrupt republicans into doing the right thing.

The whole damn thing was a waste of time. The only people that will ever give a damn are historians. When they look back 30 years from now at the level of bullshit that went on, people wont believe it. Unless of course the whole Trump bandwagon keeps on rolling, he gets reelected and does even worse shit all over again.

Now it's getting flat out weird.

Apparently, there are negotiations going on to simply enter CNN's reporting into the trial record rather than calling witnesses. It seems clear to me that calling witnesses is something that Trump's team is horrified of. It's a rotating, updating story.

I don't get it. Why didn't they call the witnesses?
I honestly don't know.

If I had to guess, they made the deal so that they could end it and move on with Biden's agenda. That's the only thing that makes any sense to me: that Biden didn't want this thing dragging on and on.

I still think it's awful though that they had it on the table and simply gave it away in exchange for getting CNN's report on the phone call between Trump and McCarthy on the official record.

Sure, for the history books its a win. But for everybody else involved, it's a sellout.

I read a hint of "weeks of witnesses" about the witness negotiations. So, to hazard a guess I bet the republicans threatened to call a very large amount of witnesses that would have taken weeks to wade through.

You know the old saying, "The best defense is a good offense"

What I heard is that the republicans were threatening to filibuster everything. I mean EVERYTHING. So once again, McConnell makes Schumer his lap dog.

It's revolting.

It truly is, because we all know how the republicans would act about this...
Yes, we do.

If the shoe was on the other foot and the roles reversed, McConnell would have gone ahead with witnesses. And when the government came to a standstill over Democratic filibusters, he would have called them out for it.

And he would have been right.

God, I can't stand Chuck Schumer. He's a pansy lap dog. We needed a pit bull, but old farts for some reason, even when they're worthless, reign supreme.

Figures. But I was reading a statment today from that nice looking black lady (can't remember her name) that was one of the prosecutors and she said that they didn't need any more witnesses that what they needed were republicans with backbone. She's right. They could have paraded people through there for weeks and it wouldn't have mattered.
