Tesla posted its first annual drop in sales since the first year of the pandemic, as increased electric vehicle competition from Chinese and Western automakers ate into demand.
CEO Elon Musk’s electric car company reported it built 433,000 vehicles but delivered only 387,000. That’s down from the 484,507 cars it delivered in the final three months of 2023, and it’s also down from the 422,875 vehicle sales in the first quarter of last year.
The party is officially over. Tesla is presently sitting on roughly 60,000 cars they can't sell. That number will go nowhere but up for the foreseeable future.

Not the least bit surprised. He'd be laying off 10% of Twitter's work force too if there was anybody left.

Tesla will lay off more than 10% of its global workforce, according to a memo sent to employees by CEO Elon Musk.
The company’s shares were down 3% on Monday morning.
“As we prepare the company for our next phase of growth, it is extremely important to look at every aspect of the company for cost reductions and increasing productivity,” Musk said in the memo obtained by CNBC.
“As part of this effort, we have done a thorough review of the organization and made the difficult decision to reduce our headcount by more than 10% globally,” the memo said.
