CRTC considering banning Fox News from Canadian cable packages

An LGBTQ rights group asked the CRTC to ban Fox News over 'false and horrifying claims' regarding transgender individuals.

Interested parties and the public can submit their comments through the CRTC website until June 2.

Egale Canada first said in April it would file an application asking the CRTC to ban Fox News over “false and horrifying claims” made by host Tucker Carlson regarding transgender individuals.

We've already banned Russia Today and RT France.

Sorry, I meant to add the link to the government page where this is located. The page is a list of public-proceedings open for comment. These proceedings are taking place under the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission). The CRTC is akin to your FCC.

The FCC has had complaints against Fox News for decades and nothing was ever done about any of it.

Ours does to a degree. We actually have a low-income cable TV package mandated by the CRTC up here. Internet is fast going the same way.

Part of that CRTC clout comes from the understanding that the differences in distances between broadcasters and all the viewing public in Canada shouldn't factor into the cost of providing the service.
