Hell of a storm last night. Wind howled at 60 mph from around 2am till 6am. Lost the power around 2:30.

Got the gas fireplace cranked up and the stove going with large pots of boiling water. Got it up to 60 degrees, so we're good to go for now.

Georgia Power has no idea when they'll get to it as power is out all over the state.

6 degrees here this morning. Having to leave the water running so the pipes don't freeze.

What's more, our government just green lighted a rate increase for Georgia Power, so our next power bill is going to be interesting to say the least, as will the water and gas.

I am amazed at how quickly you lose heat. During winter Juan (prior to the generator) we went two and a half days before hitting the low to mid-teens inside.

Houses here are built for lows in the 30's, not single digits. It seldom ever happens here. Your power goes out, you'll cool off in 6 to 8 hours pretty easy unless you're in a solid brick house.
