Ukraine / Russia Thread

I don't buy any of that for one second.

If anything, I think Putin won't order a nuclear strike simply because he knows his order will not be carried out. And that, of course, would be the end of his time in power.

So an old friend of my wife's called today. Her much younger brother, who was adopted and was in his early 20's, has died in Ukraine. They think.

They know he was drafted, but Russia isn't giving anybody any dog tags. That way, they don't have to count them as casualties when they die.

They asked the family to send genetic material as that's the way they're matching dead bodies to families as there are no dog tags. Sadly, since he was adopted, there isn't any to send.

Fucking barbaric.

To top matters off, my father-in-law is in the hospital and it's not looking good. He's 84. He's had a hell of a run. He's a great man in every way I can think of. It's going to suck when he goes.

But my wife can't go back, nor can her friend to help her parents, as either could be detained indefinitely for having residence in the United States. In fact, her friend is a doctor, so they'd probably draft her and send her to the front.

Russia is now making North Korea look like a very civilized, very cosmopolitan nation.
