Gov. Ron DeSantis says during a news conference that Publix will begin distributing the COVID-19 vaccine in Florida's panhandle, Jan. 12, 2021, in Niceville, Fla.

Anybody that's be watching the news over the last year since Covid-19 hit should know how badly this thing has gone. Then President Trump completely downplayed it, called it a hoax, said it was under control, all while the virus slowly took over the entire nation.

In just 7 short months, Covid-19 became the leading cause of death in the United States. By far.

All of that said, hope arrived with the clearance of two vaccines. The problem though, once again, was Trump. He left it all to the states to figure out on their own how to go about doing anything.

That has been, for the most part, nothing short of a complete disaster.

It's no secret that Publix stores have long funded conservative party candidates. It's also widely known that they stand starkly against the legalization of marijuana and pretty much every liberal or progressive idea proposed by anybody.

Lately, they have given $670,000.00 to Adam Putnam. They threw 28,000 dollars at Trump's reelection campaign and another 25,000 dollars to Ron DeSantis reelection campaign as well.

Then, in December 2020, Publix decided to go all in with Ron DeSantis. They made 4 separate $25,000.00 donations to the Friends of Ron DeSantis PAC, which has raked in around 48 million dollars so far.

Next thing you know, just earlier this week, Ron DeSantis announced that Florida was in partnership with Publix for vaccine rollout to Seniors.

You don't have to be the second coming of Dick Tracy to figure this one out.

It's also not the first time by far that Publix has resorted to, shall we say, very shady and questionable moves. After all, they gave that $670,000.00 to Adam Putman who called himself "a PROUD NRA sellout" after the Parkland shooting that resulted in 17 deaths.

Full disclosure: I shop at Publix a good deal. I've never done any sort of homework on them until today. It's actually terrifying who they support, who they promote and who they give money to.

With most companies walking away from Trump and his toxic, insurrectionist brand, it seems that Publix is picking up the slack by going all in.

I have one down the road from me. I never have shopped at one. I went in one time, tried to figure out their pricing scheme, and set up ( which is different from most other stores ), and I ended up only walking out with a plastic basket of blueberries. That was it. I've never been back.

I usually end up shopping, Kroger, Aldi, Walmart when I have to, I would shop at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods (for a few items) if it were close enough to me, but it's not. Other than smaller stores for things.

Kroger is unionized.

Trader Joe's is not, and Aldi is not unionized which is bad, because they are German firms. Coming from a country of high unionization as compared to the pitiful, paltry, decimated US work place for lack of unions. Which does not speak well of Aldi and Traders on that front.

Albertson's, Fred Meyer, Kroger, Ralphs, Vons, Safeway, Giant, Meijier, Stop and Shop, and there are some more.

But, it sounds like Publix is the anti-christ contrary to the working man, and anything for which he stands.

I shop at Publix and Kroger because they're closest. There's an actual butcher shop (Wilkes Meat Market) right behind the Kroger I frequent as well.

I used to LOVE Harris Teeter. That was the best grocery store ever. They were bought out by Kroger years ago.

I've never set foot in a Trader Joes. I have a Whole Foods about 2 miles further down the road from Kroger, but I rarely go there because it's so ridiculously expensive.

I tried Aldi once. I didn't care for it. Yes, it was cheap, but the meat cuts weren't that great, there was virtually no vegetable selection. One thing I did really like of theirs though were their "saltine" style crackers. I have a bowl of soup with saltine crackers for lunch every two or three days.

It's just not worth popping by there for just the crackers.

You know what they have that's good. You're going to laugh. Buy, their dried, in the bag, white beans.

These. These are excellent if your cooking dried beans for recipes, or mixing them for things, or simply just cooking them in a slow cooker pot, insta pot, or with things you add to them. I can't do as well as my folks do it, but they come out amazing. People around here buy them up. Actually, the two Aldi's in town here "ran out of their supply." It took a while to order more. I think they come from Canada ? or North Dakota ? Maybe, Canada.

They also, have improved somewhat on their produce area.

The truth is their German stores are a bit better over there, how they stock.

Yea, Whole Foods is expensive. I've heard and seen in there once. If it was closer, I would cherry pick a few items maybe.

There used to be a list of what to buy at Aldi vs. what not to buy at Aldi on the web.

If you're into cooking dried beans, and this particular type, then this is one to buy and try out. It's cheap also.

Nice man. Thanks. That bastard is so damn corrupt it's beyond belief. He doesn't even try to hide it either. That's the damn unbelievable part of the whole thing. He just does shit right out in the open and nobody cares. Nobody calls him on any of it.
