Just blew up at my son's math teacher.
Apparently, EVERYBODY has lost the ability to listen. All they concern themselves with is their own agenda. To wit:
My son is autistic spectrum. He really struggles in reading comprehension and the like, but does quite well in math and science. His teachers the last two years running have wanted to put him in an accelerated math program.
We (my wife and I) do not want this. Why? Well, simply put, for now we would like for him to excel at being normal. Our biggest fear is that an advanced math program with additional concepts he will not understand will frustrate him and lead to failure. What's more, that failure of what he used to excel at will snowball into even more problems with everything else.
So once again we get a letter where his math teacher IS PUTTING HIM INTO AN ACCELERATED PROGRAM NEXT YEAR.
Not asking.
Telling.
So my wife sent her a very nicely worded email explaining all the reasons we didn't want that to happen. The teacher then emails back for my wife to call her. My wife is at work. I'm at home, trying to fix the dishwasher when the phone rings and it's her.
So off she goes on how my son should be in an advanced program. I explain to her all of the reasons above and more as to why we do not want that. Her favorite phrase is: "I understand what you're saying, but..."
No matter what I said she always came back to, "I understand what you're saying, but" and went off on yet another tangent.
Finally, after the 5th time she said, "I undstand what you're saying"
I cut her off right there.
Me: I don't think you do.
Her: Pardon?
Me: That's the 5th time you've said, "I understand what you're saying" when clearly you do not. This is a very, very simple matter. This conversation should have been exactly two sentences long - sentence one being me saying, "We do not want our special needs son in an accelerated math class" and sentence two being you saying, "I understand sir, I'll take care of it."
Her: Silence.
Me: Well?
Her: I understand. I'll take care of it. You have a nice day.
I mean, for fucks sake. It's not hard.
Me: I like this car.
Dealer: But take a look at that one.
Me: But I like THIS one.
Dealer: But you really should check the other one out.

Me: I'd like the New York strip, medium, with the garlic potatoes.
Waiter: You should try our fish!
Me: But I'd like the steak.
Waiter: We also have a pork chop on special!
Me: GIVE ME THE FUCKING STEAK!!!
Seriously. What the fuck is WRONG with people. FUCKING LISTEN!!!
