This, other than Age of Empires, is the game that really got the whole multi-player thing going: Diablo II. It was the bomb back in it's day. Well, they've redone the game with all brand new graphics and the nostalgist in me simply couldn't refuse, so I picked it up for my birthday.

Started a Necromancer, who was always my favorite back then. It's really cool how they left the game pretty much the same as the original in most cases.

Had to get a refund. The servers are so horrible it's no longer playable.

I logged on a few days ago to see there was a queue to get in. I was number 58. It took about 15 minutes to log in. I didn't think that much of it.

But yesterday I tried to log in and I was number 184 in the queue. 15 minutes later it hadn't budged so I exited and walked away.

Today I went to log in and I was number 393.

Yeah. Not going to work for me at all. Refund.

They're getting a TON of bad press over this; as well they should.

I don't know about that. Until now I've never had an issue with a Blizzard product. I've had nothing but issues with Activision. (Their takeover of the Total War series flat-out ruined it.)

Activision has been a bust pretty much its entire existence. They started off decent but by 1983 it was all over. It was they who allowed all sorts of 3rd party programmers to ruin the early consoles with horrifically programmed games. They've been a kiss of death for pretty much any game they associate themselves with ever since.

I guess it's more the fact that they had the basis for a lot of games that are around today. I just remember being particularly impressed with River Raid, Mech Warrior and a few others.
