Chat/Contacts Bug Hits EU – Wargaming Response Non-Existent

Of course, in NA the blacklist is still in shambles.
To have a name stick one must exit the game after adding someone to the list or the database refuses to acknowledge the entry post-battle.

The whole thing smells like a program that has lost it’s lead architects and senior engineers over time. The only people left are old junior programmers, who never had a real grasp on the overall architecture, but have been promoted due to retirements and others leaving for greener pastures/better pay. They can do well within the areas they used to work in or in non-complicated code areas, but true whole-system interactions and nuances are lost to them.

    And the game breaks……..

  2. Gomez_Adams says:

Wow. Nothing for them at all. That’s revolting, especially given that they already knew what the problem was. I still think it has to do with them using IP mapping to lower their data usage as much as possible to cut down on their data bill and simply throwing the players under the bus while they experiment.

It’s also painfully obvious that they think everybody on the planet is a complete idiot about how things basically work. Flush your DNS to fix a game you’re already connected to?

To even suggest that as a last ditch act of pure desperation is beyond the pale. That person should be fired. Immediately. That was an insult to even the most basic intelligence.

Implying NA’s chat server was ever fixed. Private messages still are disappearing from PM logs, and old PM’s messages can’t be loading back up.

WG certainly takes their weekends very seriously. If only they took anything else even half as seriously as their weekends, the game may actually improve.

  4. Thing 1 says:

They don’t take anything seriously anymore for two reasons: They don’t know what the fuck they’re doing and there are so few left still working they’re not afraid of getting shit-canned.

When you get down to the skeleton crew of dipshits they have left, what are you going to do? Fire them too?

They know this. That’s why they don’t give a shit.

Yea, I just now finally got done reading the whole thread. About 13 pages worth of it now. It’s happening to them just like us isn’t it? Reads like a tragic fairy tale, only it’s so real. And, memory is so fresh, like an open wound.

You just keep asking yourself, “How, why, cause and effect, and you guys have hit on the issue I do believe…” Maybe (conjecture on my part) they knew, or know this is going to happen sooner or later and they refuse to take the over all “Expense$” to head the issue off at the pass before it would occur. They just want to save the money. Customers be damned?

It was interesting that the one poster put up those Glassdoor reviews on the EU thread like that. That was well done I think, in my opinion also. And as that one review pointed out from a past employee, how they can suddenly throw large sums of money at a problem when they want to from the top, however it’s poorly miss managed, miss applied etc down the chain etc (I’ll post that again here by the way.. see below)

Did you guys see this post at the end of that thread:

    Commanders,
Unfortunately we are currently experiencing some technical issues that arose with the deployment of the latest patch.

    Halloween Mode PVE Queue:
Despite having large numbers of players in the queue, queue times are very long.

    Personal Missions:
Due to an unforeseen bug, personal missions have been temporarily disabled until it can be fixed.

    Global Map:
Due to the high interest in the Halloween mode we are running into unexpected bottlenecks in terms of our servers. As each game only takes 7 players and the server has to run multiple PVE opponents, a higher-than-usual number of battles has to be run which is causing these problems.

Unfortunately this means we have had to temporarily freeze Global Map activities for this weekend, as well as disable Advances and Wargames.

We will keep you updated as we receive more information.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your continued patience.

Simply unbelievable how inept they’ve become.

  7. Thing 1 says:

Just more proof they’re going down, man. I’ve never seen anybody fuck up as much as they have lately. I can count the number of bad fuckups I’ve seen from every game I’ve ever played on one hand.

Shit, you need a calculator to add up all the fuckups Wargaming has done in just the last year.

  8. Insurrectional_Leftist says:

So, we have gone from the yet of Fixes, to the year of the Fuck-ups ? What in the Hell is going on with them? 🙁

  9. Icon_Charlie says:

Do you remember that according to Wiki about WG they supposed to be 3000 employees world wide.
I said bullshit back then and I’ll say bullshit now.

They are running a skeleton crew for their operations. Everything they have done lately, from premium tanks. tanks in general, maps… all have been done with minimum personal on hand..

They been running lean since 2015 and NOW they are pushing WoWs on to Steam tells me that they HAVE NO real marketing/sales department.

You know unless they have an special agreement with Steam that 30% of their gross revenue will be taken away. That means whatever people pay into the game Steam gets their 30% cut.

These are all signs of a company skimming for maximium short term profits before it all goes away.

    Preach, brother, preach!!!

  11. Aikl_EU says:

Hello, Aikl here. Made a NA account, sorry if it looked fishy.

Nice to see that at least someone wants to write about this shitstorm. I’ve tried a couple of other blogs, and it’s somewhat evident that it’s not something they particularly *want* to cover (Community Contributor status, you know), nor *can*, due to lackluster communication with Wargaming. Sounds familiar, right?

Anyway, the staff is more or less off the forums, except moderators removing the offensive stuff. Kind of funny, as there is no attempts to quell the complaints. There’s a ton of them, so it’s not like it isn’t dead obvious that people are unhappy.

It’s hard to get a grip, but skeleton crews is the most likely explanation. The community coordinators are around to make the occasional joke, but either can’t be arsed or are told to not comment on the ongoing matter – if they are even allowed to put in the overtime needed. Hard to tell.

EU actually has a couple of additional guys that are very, very rarely seen on the forums. While “Ph3lan” is the Community Manager, Florian/”Nijal” is Head of Community Management, and Markus Schill/”Invino” is Head of Global Player Relations. “Nijal” posted apologizing for Fochgate, “Invino” posted last after the servers were borked early 2014. Neither has been online in quite a while. Talk about fluffy management positions never getting their hands dirty.

Insurrectional_Leftist: Glassdoor reviews were indeed rather interesting. There are some ‘nasty’ ones for the EU/Paris HQ as well. I like to be a bit ahead of the curve, and that includes poking the beast. Was actually hoping that going the ‘rebel route’ was gonna get some heads rolling, but apparently not. At some point there’ll have to be action, however. Luckily I have some help from other players that are sick and tired of this shit, some of which are a tad more well-versed in this art than me.

Hopefully we won’t have to go the alternate route – getting in touch with Minsk ourselves. They oughta be mighty interested – EU should be quite the cash cow because of the player count and per-player spendings.

Gomez_Adams: That’s not even covering that the servers are STILL unreliable, and the chat system is still extremely wonky. Actually, it hasn’t been working 100% all week. It was acceptably good, but with it going down AGAIN it’s evident that they never really fixed it. Fucking unbelievable. Well, not really. There was no further word of it other than implying that “it seems to work now, or so I’ve been told to say”.

PS: The post that I quoted was likely not removed, it’s just a matter of the timestamps messing up; the quotes’ timestamps aren’t dynamic, but the forum is adjusting to your NA time zones.

As for my personal opinion, I think WoT’s been on the decline for most of 2017. Some things look promising, others kind of shit. Game’s catering to red bobs more than it is to players likely to keep people interested in the game. At some point WoT will turn into a giant fucking campfest, because the challenge of overcoming the passive elements will simply be too great to bother with.

It sure takes a genius to fuck up the simple idea of tanks shooting other tanks.

  12. Thing 1 says:

    Welcome aboard man!

No worries on posting the story. It’s the entire reason this site was created to begin with. You’ll notice we have no adds, we ask for no donations, there’s no PayPal button, nothing.

That’s because we don’t work for Wargaming like they do. We don’t have to eat their shit and ask for seconds because they’ll cut us off and not give us “inside information” and “preferential treatment” and all that bullshit.

We work for ourselves and the average Joe Player, which all of us are, and NOBODY else.

We’re here to do one thing only: Talk about the absolute bullshit that Wargaming does. Now, RARELY, we will defend them. But it’s EXTREMEMLY rare.

I updated you profile with your avatar and also set you to Contributor Status. That means you can make your own post, just like this one.

Any time some bullshit goes down over there that you want to spread the word on, simply come over here, create a user post, and all we do is preview it to make sure it’s not a bunch of fucking porn and troll bullshit and it gets published, then also sent to the Facebook Page and Twitter account.

They fucked our servers up again as well. They were TOTALLY DOWN for about 6 hours last night and from what I’m hearing are still pretty fucked up today.

It sure takes a genius to fuck up the simple idea of tanks shooting other tanks.

Brother, you said a fucking mouthful there!

That’s a big part of why I haven’t played Warships lately. I actually still like that game a lot, but lately the lag has been intolerable. The packet loss runs so badly that you can’t get through a game without it absolutely ruining your good time.

It’s simply beyond ridiculous the level they’ve let it drop to. (Apparently, on both sides of the Atlantic.)

(Just gonna check how the formatting works here, bear with me.)

  15. PrinzEugen85 says:

EU certainly is the bread and butter market for WG. After what happened here in NA, you’d think that this issue would have been taken more seriously. I suppose that’s like asking for quality contract work by the 3 Stooges, however.

  16. KineticRhyme says:

Meanwhile, Asia server sits behind the curtain…
Oddly enough, the chat system is working 100% over here in the box chat server. What gives?

  17. Thing 1 says:

You’re next. They figured out how to screw NA first. Once they figured that out, they moved on the EU. Once they get that sorted, you’re next on the chopping block.
